Main
Street Strengthens Vicksburg!
Main Street is Downtown… and a lot
more!
Downtown’s
contribution to our community’s employment pool and tax
base is enormous; and the jobs, retail sales and total
property value combine to make downtown one of the area’s
top industries.
Due to the huge
investment in real estate and public infrastructure,
downtown Vicksburg also represents a major portion of the
local economy.
Rich in natural,
historical and architectural resources, downtown Vicksburg
is a beautiful home to many of our city’s oldest and most
viable businesses.
Downtown
Vicksburg boasts an exceptional mix of retail shops,
restaurants, museums, art galleries, antique shops, service
businesses and other attractions.
This area truly has retained the charm of the past
while blending with the vision of the future.
You
can drive or stroll in the Downtown Central Business
District where cafes and restaurants offer a variety of
dining experiences. After
attending a convention, meeting, or public show at the
Convention Center; visit our specialty shops, art galleries,
and museums, or browse through our many gift shops,
boutiques, and antiques stores.
You’ll find everything is waiting for you…in
Downtown Vicksburg.
Our recent
renovations have brought a new sense of pride to our
citizens, a brand new travel adventure and wonder to our
visitors, and "the place to be" for shopping,
recreation and relaxation, or fine dining.
Whether you are
going on a thousand-dollar shopping spree or are just
looking for a nice, quite, wonderful place to meet friends
for coffee, downtown Vicksburg has it all.
That is why we
were named "Best Day Trip" by Mississippi
Magazine!
“Main Street” is
Downtown
…and Downtown is Vicksburg.

On the
Waterfront
At
the entrance to the Downtown Waterfront, artist Robert
Dafford has several pictorial
murals depicting periods of history which developed from
our City. A
narrative of this area can be heard by tuning in to 90.5 FM
or 1620 AM radio stations.
Daily
boat excursions are now available which offer an
entertaining narrative history of the Mississippi River and
its surroundings.
